Trip to Scotland and England 2010

Oct 16, Saturday

Drove from Monifieth to Troon in Ayrshire via Edinburgh. When we arrived in Edinburgh we parked near the farmer's market and stopped to look at the produce and have a coffee

Scenes at the Edinburgh Farmer's market

buffalo meat as well as angus beef
fresh berries and jams -- there are large strawberry growing operations just north of Edinburgh

I loved the name "Jock's Tattie Shed" -- good veggies also
With coffee -- checking out the clotted cream -- bought some Jersey cheese. The very healthy looking lady said all her food comes from Jersey's.

And fruit wines
and pastries

where we got coffee for only one pound! They served great shredded pork sandwiches

Then we walked down Princess Street and made our way to the new Scottish Parliament buildings at the end of the High Street.

After that we walked up the High Street to the Castle and saw the Honours of Scotland including the Stone of Destiny. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take a photo of the Stone of Destiny.

We ended the day by driving to Troon where we stayed at the West Winds House B&B.
