Richard Hyder (1786-1874)and Ann(e) (1788-1833)

Richard was baptized on 19 June 1785 at Smarsden Parish Church (Smarsden is a small community about five miles southwest of Charing). His parents were Thomas Hyder of Charing and Mary (Hodges). We have no other information on Richard except that associated with the baptisms of his children and inscriptions on gravestones in Charing. Richard was a carpenter by trade. He married twice, with all of his children appearing to have been from the first marriage. We have not located the marriage record of  Richard and Ann and so do not know her maiden name; it may have been Akhurst. The children of the marriage (all christened in Charing) were as follows:

Mary died on 6 February 1833 at the age of 45. Richard married Sarah Mackelden(sp) on 24 Jan 1835 at Charing Parish Church. Sarah died on June 4 1865, aged 72 and Richard died on April 3rd, 1874 aged 88.
